I enjoyed every minute with these two love birds on Tortola. Before our shoot my relationship with this stunning British Virgin island was only for quick stops at the customs dock to check in before sailing for Jost Van Dyke or Sandy Spit. I was in heaven with the small bits and pieces of the West End I was able to explore; Cain Garden Bay, Sopers Hole, and the beautiful Frenchman’s Cay Hotel that Amanda and Travis stayed.
When Amanda first emailed me to schedule a shoot for their first year anniversary trip to the British Virgin Islands she said they would also be bringing her wedding dress and Travis’ suit. They wanted a re-do of their wedding photographs. After all of the planning, and a changed wedding date because of a tragic heart emergency for Travis, they finally got their perfect day. Every detail was perfection. Sadly they were very disappointed with the collection of photos their wedding photographer delivered. Not a single shot they loved of the two of them together, and few shots of even Amanda’s beautiful bouquet. I loved the last ‘Day After Session’ in Maine so the idea of a ‘Year After Session’ sounded fabulous especially on Tortola!
Squeezed into the funny mini-jeeps everyone drives on the BVI we talked about their wedding photography experience and I tried to understand what went wrong — it seemed to all come down to 3 major issues, I’ll share in my next blog post.
